The Whitetail Family Resort is a beautiful property right on Houghton Lake with 6 cabins, a house and a suite. Please look at them and rent them individually for whatever size event you are having. Each cabin is a bit different with several new amenities:-), but still a better deal than the local hotel!
The property itself features a sand beach with shallow water, perfect for kids to play in or for adults to lounge in. We have a private dock that is perfect for your boat and plenty of parking across the street for your trailer. There are kayaks and splashboards for our guests to use. If you would rather relax and watch the waves splash on the shore, there are plenty of chairs around the fire pit or a wooden swing to enjoy an ice-cold Copper Kettle beverage or a lemonade.
The yard also has a playset, shuffleboard, tether ball and plenty of room to run. It also has a buck pole for our hunters that have been coming year after year after year.
A few other highlights would be that we are pet friendly (with a small charge) an enclosed fish cleaning station, plenty of private parking across the street for an extra vehicle, trailers, ORVs, boats, etc. We are also located right at the Snowmobile trailhead!
The Houghton Lake area almost has too many things to mention. We are walking distance to the copper gazebo where the birdwatching and fishing are incredible. Swimming, boating (several places to rent pontoons, or we have some small fishing boats to rent too), waterskiing, GOLF (many great courses in the immediate area), fishing, hiking, ORV’s are for rent right down the street (snowmobiles too), geocaching (one of the largest in the state), shopping, eating, kayaking, color tours, cross country skiing, sledding, and many, many more things to do here.
The Smolinski family fell in love with the Whitetail Family Resort as soon as we saw it. The lake is incredible, peaceful and serene especially in North Bay where it is located. We bought the resort in 2021 with the goal of having a place that would give guests a place to make memories with their family and friends and hopefully bring a smile to their faces that will last a lifetime…just like the stories we’ve heard from guests that have been coming back year after year after year for decades.
I have heard stories back in the 50's, they used to raise bear cubs right here on the resort for guests to play with. It is amazing hearing the stories from past guests that have enjoyed staying here...and yeah, we don't have bears here anymore;-)
